Overview: <p class="p1"><strong>Community Services</strong>- Belleville Area Museum Docent<br /><strong>Industry: </strong>Local Government<br /><strong>Level: </strong>Part Time<br /><strong>Starting Hourly Wage: </strong>$18.00&nbsp;</p> <p class="p2"><span class="s1"><strong><br />Position Summary</strong></span></p> <p class="p4">Under the general supervision of the Director of Community Services, the Museum Docent serves as the Township&rsquo;s &ldquo;face of the Museum.&rdquo; The employee works closely with the Director and his/her designee to implement a variety of programs that meet the educational, recreational and social needs of the citizens in the Township and surrounding areas.<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp; </span>Responsibilities extend to acting as a tour guide for school and chartered groups throughout the year, greeting visitors, selling items in the gift shop, recording donations, light cleaning, and working Museum special events. The Museum Docent is a part time position (10 - 25 hours per week depending on Museum need.) Some evening and weekend work will be required. Responsibilities: <p class="p1">An Employee in this position may be called upon to perform any of all of the following essential job functions, duties, and responsibilities. The following describes the general nature and level of work to be performed and is not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties performed in this position:</p> <ul class="ul1"> <li class="li1">Greet and welcome visitors and groups upon their arrival at the Museum.</li> <li class="li1">Conduct museum tours. Be comfortable speaking to small and large groups of people of all ages.</li> <li class="li1">Deal skillfully with a diverse group of visitors of all ages and abilities under a variety of circumstances.</li> <li class="li1">Assist with tour support and tour group confirmations.</li> <li class="li1">Help with development of docent tour outlines, manuals and trainings of new Belleville Area Museum docents.</li> <li class="li1">Cash handling of gift shop purchases and donations<span class="s2">.</span></li> <li class="li1">Continually keeping informed about changes in museum exhibits.</li> <li class="li1">Participate in special events, such as Festival of Holiday Trees, Booville, Harvest Fest, etc.</li> <li class="li1">Schedules volunteers for shifts &amp; oversees volunteers while on duty.</li> <li class="li1">Assist visitors with genealogy research process.</li> <li class="li1">Other duties as assigned.&nbsp;</li> </ul>
