Overview: Vona Center for Mental Health's Deaf and Hard of Hearing Mental Health Services provides mental health services to Deaf, DeafBlind, and hard of hearing students located at the various school sites within the school districts of 287, Minneapolis, St. Paul, 917, Metro Deaf School, Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf, Central Minnesota Schools, Rochester/Southeast MN and throughout the community state-wide. This position will serve the clients in the areas of Southeast MN, District 917, Metro Deaf School, and other areas as assigned.&nbsp; Must be willing to work with both Deaf and Hard of Hearing children. If needed, an interpreter will be provided for hard of hearing children if they do not sign.
Responsibilities: <p><strong>Job Duties:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Provide psychotherapy to selected individuals who have emotional, behavioral and mental health issues.</li> <li>Provide group therapy services for selected program participants to address emotional/behavioral or mental health issues with the benefit of peer support and feedback.</li> <li>Conduct assessment of program participant&rsquo;s problems, strengths and needs.</li> <li>Develop treatment plan, and plans for ongoing care.</li> <li>Provide documentation that accurately reflects clinical service consistent with internal and external documentation standards.</li> <li>Participate in case consultation and provide input to the multidisciplinary team, representing the disciplines of social work, psychology, marriage and family therapy, or clinical counseling in the client&rsquo;s treatment plans.</li> <li>&nbsp;Serve as an expert in the mental health of children and adolescents on the school's team.</li> <li>Ability to provide day-to-day outreach in school to teachers regarding the emotional and behavioral needs of students.</li> <li>Ability to provide presentations on topics related to mental health to school staff upon request.</li> <li>Provide in-person services at the school and telemedicine services remotely, shifting between methods as determined by each school's learning model or client preference.</li> <li>There may be opportunities to provide therapeutic services to clients in the clinic setting either in-person and/or via telehealth.&nbsp; Clients served at the clinic range in age from youth through adulthood.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Why staff like their job at VOA and as a school-based therapist:</strong></p> <ul> <li>I am often someone&rsquo;s first experience with therapy, and I take that responsibility seriously and view it as an honor</li> <li>Being at the school provides more greater accessibility for students to receive mental health services and provides me opportunity to shape the school culture</li> <li>I appreciate the variety in people I get to work with in terms of demographics and mental health challenges</li> <li>Flexible work schedule with ability to work from confidential home office</li> <li>Value of work/life balance</li> </ul>
