Overview: <p>This position is for all Youth Residential Services sites (locations in Blaine, NowThen, and Minnetonka). This position is responsible for assessing the patient&rsquo;s needs, developing a plan of care, implementing the plan, and evaluating and adjusting the plan as needed.&nbsp;</p>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Assess patient&rsquo;s nursing needs and develop a care plan</li> <li>Provide assessed nursing care needs to the patient</li> <li>Monitor and record patient progress</li> <li>May assist with examinations and procedures</li> <li>Administer medications as prescribed by a physician</li> <li>May perform procedures such as dressing wounds, etc.</li> <li>May provide emergency care for patients</li> <li>Coordinate patient care with the care team, outside providers and agencies, and family members</li> <li>Provide health education, including self-care and wellness issues, to patients and their families</li> <li>Serve as an advocate on behalf of patients</li> <li>Supervise the maintenance of current health, medical, and insurance records on each resident</li> <li>Maintain current MN registration/certification and CPR/first aid training and meet yearly CEU requirements as needed</li> <li>Inform appropriate management of pertinent medical findings and recommendations for follow-up up with outside agencies</li> <li>Schedule routine physicals, medical and dental exams as needed; may accompany residents on appointments.</li> <li>Promote personal safety and a safe environment for participants and co-workers.</li> <li>Perform duties in accordance with agency policies, procedures, and professional and community standards.</li> <li>Responsible for ordering equipment and supplies.</li> <li>May plan and coordinate community programs to promote health</li> <li>Assure program participant privacy is maintained by being knowledgeable and following HIPAA privacy and security regulations.</li> <li>Develop and implement training to staff such as Medication Administration Certification, Blood Bourne Pathogens, and other training, as needed</li> <li>Maintain the facilities First Aid Kits</li> <li>Attend off-site meetings and training as warranted</li> <li>Provide coverage at other VOA Youth Residential Services sites, both scheduled and when needed</li> <li>Provide on-call nursing coverage on a rotating schedule with other VOA RTC agency nurses</li> <li>Maintain professional relationships with co-workers,&nbsp;program participants, medical professionals, community professionals, pharmacy and lab personnel</li> <li>Work as many hours as needed to complete the job</li> <li>Other duties as assigned</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Registered Nurse licensed in the State of Minnesota</li> <li>Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience.</li> <li>CPR certified</li> <li>Experience in working with identified program participants</li> <li>A valid driver&rsquo;s license and a good driving record.</li> <li>Must be 21 years of age or older</li> </ul> <p><strong>Required Skills:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.</li> <li>Ability to work with a diverse population of individuals by using tact, diplomacy and flexibility.</li> <li>Basic math skills are required for this position.</li> <li>Assimilate information and draw conclusions.</li> <li>Analytical</li> <li>Creative problem solving</li> <li>Decision making</li> <li>Independent judgment</li> <li>Negotiating/Mediating</li> <li>Demonstrated competency working with program&rsquo;s program participants/residents</li> <li>Organizational and time management skills</li> <li>Computer basics</li> </ul>
