Overview: <p>The Director of Data Science will lead a team of Data Scientists responsible for utilizing advanced statistical tools, machine learning, and leading-edge technology for disseminating insights largely gathered from omnichannel customer data, product data, and process-generated data across Ahold Delhaize USA &amp; our Great Local Brands. The advanced technology we leverage and tools to be built will allow for the creation of new insights and the ability to democratize customer data more fully across the entire enterprise. The Director will then consult with users across the business, so they can fully understand and activate the insights delivered from the new capabilities created yielding impactful financial contribution.</p> <p>Our flexible/hybrid work schedule includes 3 in-person days at one of our core locations and 2 remote days.</p> <p>Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.</p>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Drive the evolution of existing models and solutions by harnessing new data sources, exploring innovative use cases, and pushing the boundaries of what is possible to drive transformative impact.&nbsp;</li> <li>Guide and mentor the data science team by fostering career growth, enhancing technical skills, and developing strong business acumen to drive advanced insights and impactful recommendations.&nbsp;</li> <li>Create a leading Data Science capability and tools that significantly advance customer engagement objectives and act as trusted business partner by sharing expertise on how best to activate for business growth.&nbsp; &nbsp;</li> <li>Collaborate with Technology &amp; Engineering to structure customer data in a way that will make it accessible for creating a 360 view of our customers. This will include working with IT to identify and leverage new technology that facilitates data access, analysis and insight development. This will require expertise in advanced statistical and machine learning methods necessary for synthesizing data into very actionable business opportunities.&nbsp;</li> <li>Develop and evolve data science tools and solutions aimed at understanding the ever-changing needs and expectations of our customers and providing innovative capabilities that can differentiate Ahold Delhaize customer engagement strategies and business models.</li> <li>Additional job duties may be assigned as needed to meet the needs of the business and support our Values.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Master&rsquo;s degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Data Science, or equivalent combination of education and related work experience.&nbsp;</li> <li>9+ years of managerial experience in positions with increasing responsibilities.</li> <li>10+ years of experience performing advanced customer data analytics, customer segmentation, data mining and data science.</li> <li>Strong oral and written communication skills.</li> <li>Expertise in statistical software and languages (Python, Pyspark, SQL).</li> <li>Ability to influence leadership.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>Preferred Qualifications:<br /><br /></strong></p> <ul> <li>In-depth understanding of the various software development lifecycles (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, etc.).</li> <li>Experience with advanced statistical forecasting methods associated with customer and product level hierarchies and development of multi-level customer segmentations.</li> <li>Experience with machine learning methods and production deployment using Azure or AWS.</li> <li>Experience with Agile Methodology.</li> <li>Proven ability to establish goals &amp; objectives, set clear expectations, prioritize activities, and follow through with timely execution in a fluid, cross-functional team environment.</li> <li>Exceptional soft skills, and ability to lead, inspire, and explain with an entrepreneurial mindset.</li> <li>Track record of successful owning requirements for delivery of large scale - cross functional software development projects.</li> </ul>
