Overview: The Software Engineer II contributes to the creation of high-quality, innovative, and fully functional software solutions that adhere to coding standards and technical design. This role will contribute to the research, design, development and implementation of new software solutions in addition to enhancing existing software capabilities. This role will also collaborate with other squad members, stakeholders and the product team to ensure that products meet business, functional, and technical requirements and are scalable in nature. This will include translating business and technical requirements into well engineered, tested, and deployed technology solutions by gathering user requirements, defining system functionality, and writing code in various languages. The Software Engineer II has the ability to take on smaller projects from start to finish, work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors and trace issues to their source. The Software Engineer II develops solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity.<br /><br /><strong>Our flexible/hybrid work schedule includes 3 in-person days at one of our core locations and 2 remote days. Our core office locations are Salisbury, NC and Quincy, MA.</strong><br /><br /><strong>Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.</strong>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Help develop the technical design for solutions based on the defined scope, requirements, and functional design provided by the product team and other stakeholders.</li> <li>Build and configure technical components (interfaces, conversions, reports, workflows) so that solution design meets business needs and solution architecture standards.</li> <li>Write and document programming code to meet the gathered requirements.</li> <li>Perform code reviews and quality assurance to ensure compliance to technical standards and business requirements.</li> <li>Collaborate with squad to support the product team to create and refine user stories and acceptance criteria.</li> <li>Prepare development and test environments, conduct test readiness to proceed with testing, and collaborate with dedicated QA team to execute testing.</li> <li>Continuously reduce technical debt (e.g., create technical debt stories, remove bugs) and decommission legacy applications and solutions.</li> <li>Release software into production and perform release testing (system integration, mock conversion, parallel, regression, performance and stress, infrastructure).</li> <li>Develops solutions to moderately complex technical issues and problems that impact multiple areas or disciplines.</li> <li>Contributes and at times leads positive and collaborative solution brainstorming and delivery.</li> <li>Has strong self-led work drive and accountability as well as a growing ability to lead team assessments and discussions to achieve assignments (agile, or bimodal).</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Technical field; equivalent trainings/certifications/experience equivalency will be considered</li> <li>3 or more years of equivalent experience in relevant job or field of technology</li> <li>Proven work experience as a Software Engineer or Software Developer</li> <li>Ability to develop software in Java, COBOL, Python, Perl, C#, C++ or other programming languages</li> <li>Excellent knowledge of relational databases, including SQL (Microsoft SQL and DB2)</li> <li>Working/supporting experience with ColdFusion app with application development, migration and modernization.</li> <li>Exposure to mainframe systems and solution management</li> <li>Experience developing web applications using at least one popular web framework (e.g. Angular, Ruby, Django, Spring, Express)</li> <li>Ability to document requirements and specifications and support knowledge management documentation</li> <li>Knowledge of algorithms and data structures as tech stack elements</li> <li>Understanding of access management frameworks (MFA, MS authenticator, MSAL etc.)</li> <li>Proficiency in cloud compute, cloud infrastructure and platforms with application hosting and consumption designs</li> <li>Proficiency in troubleshooting software issues and debugging a large codebase</li> <li>Skills: Programming, Testing, Analytical Thinking, Agile Development, Problem Solving, Cybersecurity Risk Management, Data Privacy, Application Security, Technical Troubleshooting</li> </ul> <strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong><br /> <ul> <li>Masters Degree in relevant field of study preferred, Additional trainings or certifications in relevant field of study preferred.</li> <li>Experience in Agile teams and or Product/Platform based operating model.</li> <li>Experience in retail or grocery preferred.</li> </ul>
