Overview: The Oracle Database Engineer/Administrator is an experienced Engineer with a demonstrated track record of providing expertise and leadership in the design, configuration, and management of Oracle database systems. They are responsible for ensuring the availability, security, and performance of Oracle database systems as well as managing backups to ensure data can be restored in case of failures or disasters. They are expected to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment leveraging forward-thinking technical database engineering expertise and working closely with Manager Service Providers to ensure quality services are delivered. The Platform Engineer IV can significantly impact a project both as individual technical contributor, technical leader and mentor to more junior Engineers.<br /><br />Our flexible/ hybrid work schedule includes 3 in-person days at one of our core locations and 2 remote days. Our core office locations include Salisbury, NC, Chicago, IL, Quincy, MA.<br /><br />Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
Responsibilities: <br /><ul><li>Leads the design, development, delivery, and optimization of databases, database instances, database clusters, database software, and related components.</li><li>Serves as the senior subject matter expert and technical lead for Oracle database technologies.</li><li>Leads the review of IT solutions to assure compliance with database standards and industry best practices.</li><li>Leads the analysis of complex problems, business requirements, and technical requirements to develop effective database solutions.</li><li>Provides database consulting and design services to application developers and other consumers of database services.</li><li>Maintains and develops relationships with business partners, solution delivery, data management, operations, external service provider, engineering, and other IT teams.</li><li>Configure and deliver end-to-end support for database servers and data services running on AIX, Linux, Windows, VMware platform and Cloud for product development teams.</li><li>Conducts SQL reviews to optimize application performance and efficiency.</li><li>Coaches and mentors' teams on the efficient use of SQL and database services.</li></ul><br />
Requirements: <ul> <li>8+ years of Database Oracle Engineering/DBA experience.</li> <li>Experience supporting 24/7 databases. Retail industry background is a plus.</li> <li>Extensive experience in RMAN, HADR, Data Guard, and Data-Domain or Rubrik.</li> <li>Experience as an Oracle database analyst, engineer, or architect.</li> <li>Experience with development and design in the database space.</li> <li>Experience designing, building, deploying, maintaining, and optimizing Oracle database instances, objects, software, and related components.</li> <li>Extensive knowledge in creating and maintaining well performing physical database structures.</li> <li>Work with Application DBA, Developers and Operations/Systems DBA to optimize database structures and performance.</li> <li>Provide technical analysis on non-prod and prod database environments and recommend improvements.</li> <li>Coordinate and support database, application, OS and hardware upgrades.</li> <li>Familiar with database installation and configuration/parameter tuning.</li> <li>Familiar with day-to-day database administration, database utilities and performance monitoring tools.</li> <li>Assist with database upgrades, configuration, and patches.</li> <li>Assist with monitoring and fine-tuning databases. Experience with Datadog a plus.</li> <li>Familiar with database security and access.</li> <li>Experience designing, building, deploying, maintaining, and optimizing Oracle database instances, clusters, objects, software, and related components.</li> <li>Proven experience delivering database solutions within a project management framework.</li> <li>Advanced knowledge of database stored procedures, database triggers, database commands, and database utilities.</li> <li>Proven experience designing, developing, delivering, and optimizing database backup, recovery, high availability, and DR solutions.</li> <li>Hands on experience in Design, configuration, and supporting HA on Oracle.</li> <li>Understand the ins and outs of database physical and logical replications, clustering, mirroring, and high availability.</li> <li>Advanced knowledge of SQL, DML and DDL.</li> <li>Extensive experience mentoring and providing database consulting services.</li> <li>Learn and stay current on the features and functionality of Oracle databases, focusing on technology.</li> <li>Experience with Microsoft Windows, Office, and other productivity tools.</li> </ul> <br /><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong><br /> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.</li> <li>Experience with database tools.</li> <li>Experience with Backup and Recovery tools - Rubrik or Cohesity or TSM.</li> <li>Experience with windows scripts, programing languages, or Unix shell scripts.</li> <li>Experience in supporting vendors delivered software products.</li> <li>Experience working with offshore teams, outsourcers, or managed service providers.</li> <li>ITIL, Agile Methodology or related certifications.</li> <li>Experience designing, building, deploying, maintaining, installing and optimizing other relational database management systems, database instances, objects, software, and related components.</li> <li>Certification in Oracle, Azure Administrator, Azure DevOps - preferred.</li> <li>Datadog &amp; general systems monitoring tools for databases and data services.</li> </ul> <br />Salary Range: 108,880 | 136,100 | 163,320
