Overview: The Principal Software Engineer serves as a senior technical expert who designs and builds highly complex software solutions while shaping engineering standards and guiding teams across products and platforms.<br /><br />Serves as the hands-on integration engineering lead for ADUSA's SAP transformation program, defining, designing, and delivering enterprise integration solutions across SAP and non-SAP platforms. Partners closely with the system integrator and internal architecture teams to establish a scalable integration foundation using SAP Integration Suite (BTP), MuleSoft, other ETL and data integration tools, APIs, orchestration, and event-driven patterns.<br /><br /><strong>*Our flexible/hybrid work schedule includes 3 in-person days at one of our core locations and 2 remote days. Our core office location for this role is Salisbury, NC.</strong><br /><br /><strong>*Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.</strong>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Design, build, test, deploy, and support enterprise grade software solutions.</li> <li>Lead analysis, design, and code reviews for major application components.</li> <li>Develop high-quality, production-ready code and robust automated tests.</li> <li>Support upgrade planning, modernization, and management of technical debt.</li> <li>Implement automation strategies and contribute to CI/CD and DevOps maturity.</li> <li>Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into technical designs.</li> <li>Monitor application performance and address issues with root-cause analysis.</li> <li>Research emerging technologies and recommend innovative improvements.</li> <li>Provide technical leadership and mentorship across engineering teams.</li> <li>May be called upon to support critical escalations and must be available during urgent IT incidents as needed.</li> <li>Lead the engineering design and delivery of integrations across SAP and non-SAP platforms, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, supportable, and aligned with the SAP transformation roadmap.</li> <li>Build and maintain integrations using SAP Integration Suite (BTP), MuleSoft, and other ETL and data integration tools, including API-based services, orchestration frameworks, interfaces, reusable patterns, and automated testing.</li> <li>Partner extensively with the system integrator and internal delivery teams to review designs and code, manage dependencies and defects, and ensure integration capabilities meet ADUSA engineering standards.</li> <li>Collaborate with enterprise architecture teams to define integration standards, API governance, security, observability, error handling, message reprocessing, deployment, and operational best practices.</li> <li>Support event-driven and streaming-based integrations using Kafka and related technologies, applying cloud-native patterns where they improve agility, resilience, or real-time data exchange.</li> <li>Guide and mentor engineers involved in integration delivery, influence technical direction without direct authority, and contribute to AI-enabled integration and automation opportunities where appropriate.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of work experience.</li> <li>10+ years of software engineering experience.</li> <li>Strong proficiency in modern software design, development, and testing.</li> <li>Hands-on experience with cloud environments and DevOps practices.</li> <li>Strong analytical and communication skills with a user-focused mindset.</li> <li>Demonstrated experience leading SAP integration initiatives within large-scale, complex enterprise transformations.</li> <li>Advanced hands-on experience with SAP Integration Suite on SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), MuleSoft, and other ETL and data integration tools.</li> <li>Strong expertise in API design, development, management, orchestration, enterprise integration architecture, ETL/data pipeline design, and end-to-end delivery across heterogeneous platforms.</li> <li>Proven ability to partner effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, communicate complex concepts clearly, and influence technical direction without direct authority.</li> <li>Experience mentoring and guiding engineers while remaining hands-on in solution design, development, testing, deployment, and issue resolution.</li> <li>Ability to thrive in a rapidly evolving transformation environment while balancing delivery priorities, architecture standards, and operational readiness.</li> </ul> <br /><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong><br /> <ul> <li>Experience in architecting distributed systems.</li> <li>Experience with Kafka, streaming technologies, and event-driven architectures.</li> <li>Knowledge of cloud-native integration patterns, resilient interface design, monitoring, and automated recovery.</li> <li>Experience working with system integrators and consulting partners in a shared-delivery model.</li> <li>Awareness of, experience with, or strong interest in AI and Generative AI applications for integration engineering and automation.</li> <li>Experience supporting integrations through design, build, testing, cutover, stabilization, and ongoing operational support.</li> </ul> <br /><br /><br />Salary Range NC: $163,280 - $244,920<br /><br />Actual compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on their unique qualifications and experience, internal equity, and market conditions. Final compensation decisions will be made in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
